Another great tool for VoIP Skype users, the Polycom Communicator C100S which comes in colors blue or gray. This gadget costs about $129.00 and is available online for purchase.
Polycom Communicator gives you the ultimate hands-free Skype experience. Based on the same technology used in Polycom’s legendary line of triangular SoundStation conference phones, the Skype-certified Polycom Communicator enables crystal-clear, natural conversations when using Skype. sipgate Opens Up iPhone to Third-Party VoIP Services
SAN FRANCISCO, CA - June 4, 2008 - sipgate Inc. (www.sipgate.com) today announces the immediate availability of a free application for the iPhone, which, for the first time allows consumers to natively use any VoIP service which uses the industry standard SIP. Consumers can now use their iPhones to make and receive VoIP calls from their devices over a Wi-Fi Internet connection using a wide variety of VoIP providers. The VoIP-enabling software is available from sipgate’s website www.sipgate.com.
With the sipgate service, users can dial any number without using minutes from a wireless plan. This is particularly useful when calling to or from other countries, as call costs can be as high as $3 per minute. However, when using a VoIP service, costs can be kept as low as $0.01 per minute. sipgate is giving new users 111 free minutes for domestic calls for users to test out VoIP usage on the device*.
Another benefit of sipgate is that consumers can use any domestic or international number provided by their VoIP service on their iPhone. This means that they can make and receive calls from different domestic and international numbers, all on a single device.
Thilo Salmon, CEO of sipgate commented: “We love VoIP and we love the iPhone so we are giving people like us who always wanted VoIP on the iPhone the ability to use any SIP-based VoIP service they want. We are thrilled that Apple is opening up the iPhone and we look forward to taking part in future application development.”
Salmon continued: “As a company we strive to make useful services accessible to everyone. There will be more innovation for businesses and consumers coming from sipgate this year, so keep your eyes open for more news.”
Graphics and screenshots of the service are available at www.sipgate.com/press.html
According to some news, IO Quake 3 will soon come with Voice Over IP (VoIP) support. This mean that gamers now have the ability to make use of the VoIP technology while playing their game.
Based on these theories, ioquake3 is adding VOIP support for the next release. This internal support is going to bring along with it support for (entirely optional) Mumble positional VOIP audio. More nerd-speak after the break, the short and quick of it is, however:
We’re going to have VOIP for mods/new games, and baseq3. This is a pretty radical departure from the initial goal of not changing anything in baseq3, and is probably the single largest (obvious) end-user benefit for using ioquake3.
The fact of the matter is that if you want to blame someone for allowing it to be included, you can blame me (Zachary, lead omnipresent overseer of ioquake and related entities). If, however, this makes you happy and you want to praise somebody, give either big ups OR big props to Ryan Gordon (lead intergalactic space nerd) and Ludwig (Herr Angst).

Here’s an event you might want to check out, especially when you are located near the Middle East. The VoIP World Middle East 2008 will be happening this coming June 8-10th, 2008 and will be held at Shangri-La Hotel in Dubai.
VoIP World Middle East 2008 is the first forum in the region with real VoIP case studies, providing all the attendees with a wide understanding of the advanced strategies, applications and implications of VoIP.
Leaders in the Middle East are seeking to develop best practices for the development and growth of the telecommunications sector. Digital migration may take more time to be implemented across the Middle East; however this technology is inevitably going to happen.
